One Month Old

Monday, July 4, 2011

Pierce is one month old.  It is hard to believe how fast the time is flying by.  It seems like just yesterday I was on bed rest waiting for him to arrive.  We are enjoying each and every moment with him.  He is a joy and the sweetest thing on earth.

Pierce is now 9 lbs. 5 oz.  He is growing like crazy.  He eats 2-3 oz. every 2-3 hours.  He is still wearing newborn clothes, and he is growing into his 0-3 month clothes. For the most part, Pierce eats and sleeps.  At night, he sleeps in the bassinet in our bedroom.  Eventually, we'll move him to the crib in his bedroom.  He loves to put his head on our shoulder or chest.  He also likes to be in his papasan chair.

Everyone says that Pierce looks exactly like Brad.  I think that he got his brown hair and curls from me.  I love his crazy curls.  We try to comb them, but they have a mind of their own.  I think that they add lots of character.

Pierce is now lifting his head.  He has turned his head a few times during tummy time.  His arms are very active especially when he is eating and sleeping.  When he moves positions, his arms are often in the air.  I have lots of pictures of this in action.   He makes the cutest noises when he is eating and sleeping.  He likes to look around with his big blue eyes.  He has also started to put his hand on our hand while feeding him, and he'll lightly grab our arm or fingers.

Pierce's furry brother, Murree, loves him.  He is very protecive of him too.  He will follow us from room to room to make sure that he is ok.  Murree keeps a close eye on Pierce.  He likes to lie down right near Pierce as if he is protecting him.  Murree isn't sleeping through the night either.  He is up with us every few hours.  He has to get up and check on him.  Murree also gives Pierce an occasional lick here and there.

The past month has gone by so quickly.  I fear that I am going to blink my eyes and we'll be celebrating his first birthday.  I try to live in the present and enjoy each and every moment with him especially because I'll be going back at work soon.  Pierce has brought so much joy and happiness into our household. He is definitely a keeper.  Our lives have changed for the better.  I have a new perspective on life, and I couldn't be happier.
