This is the picture that Marco sent to us.  It made me smile.
Uncle Marco babysitting Pierce.

Lori and Kevin invited us to a French cooking class for Kevin's birthday.  I was hesitant at first, but I thought that it would be a good idea to try it out.  I knew that having a babysitter for the first time would be hard, but you have to do it sometime.  We have an overnight sitter (grandparents) planned in October, and I thought that it would be a good idea to practice before then.  Mary and Marco agreed to take on the challenge.  It's a good thing that we have complete trust in them, and the night went really well.  I have to admit that I was a little sad as we drove away from their house.  I think that the idea had me more worked up than anything.  Once we got to the class, I was able to enjoy myself.  I knew that Pierce was in the hands of professional parents.  Mary and Marco have had lots of practice with sweet little Eliska.  Thank you Pinas for taking Pierce last night.  You made our first night with a babysitter a huge success!!!  By the way, the class was a lot of fun.  I'd love for us to take another one.  Happy Birthday Kevin!  I am so glad that we were able to join the celebration and fun!

Rainforest Cafe

Saturday, August 20, 2011

I joined another play group that will meet once a month at fun places in Houston. Our first trip was to the Rainforest Cafe in the Galleria.  We enjoyed lunch, and the boys (all babies this time were boys) enjoyed looking at the animals, ceiling, lights, etc.  They even looked around as the loud noises blared across the restaurant.  Thank you Randa, Heather, and Jennifer for all of your mommy tips.  Their boys are 6 months, 7 months, and 8 months old.  It was fun to see older boys and to get an idea of what is yet to come.  What a fun outing!

Mommy Matinee

The theatre was about 45 minutes away. Yah, we finally arrived there.
We saw Ali and Gulianna as we were walking into the theatre.
Pierce was asleep when we got there.
Wow, Pierce loved the lights on the ceiling.  So exciting!
Can you tell that I was excited to be there?  :)
 Movie date with the babies...
The strollers cracked me up.
 Mommy Matinee time

Pierce went to the movies for the first time today. The Silverado Theatre in Tomball, Texas has a Mommy Matinee on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.  We joined Megan/Luke and Ali/Guiliana for the movie The Help.  It was great.  They keep the lights dimmed, you can park your strollers, and no one cares if a baby cries.  Pierce didn't know what to think about the movie theatre.  He loved the lights on the ceiling.  He was so excited that feeding him was a bit of a challenge.  He kept looking to the right, to the left, up and around.  He was definitely stimulated by the change of scenery.  All in all, I was able to enjoy the movie once it started.  I had to stand up and rock Pierce, feed him, and hold him while he fell asleep in my arms.  The best part is that I got to enjoy a movie too.  What a fun day!

Sound asleep in the bassinet.  This is one of his last nights to sleep there.
 Big morning stretches...
Oh, ew, ugh, er...stretch, stretch, stretch
It's going to be a wonderful day.
I'll stretch on the changing table too.
Wow, he is getting so big.
My two boys are sound asleep.  Love it!
Eliska was singing to Pierce.  He liked it.
My dad was swinging Pierce and he was laughing out loud.  This was his first time really laughing.

 Loving his mat
If I wave my arms, I'll hit something and it will make a noise.
Maybe I should kick my feet too...
Side note...his socks look so silly.  I have to pull them way up in order for them to stay on.  :)

 I love this picture.
Becky came over for a visit.
Rachel is holding Pierce.  I taught Rachel when she was a first grader.  Now, she is going to the sixth grade.
Aunt Kim wanted to know if his hat still fit.  He wore it during his newborn pictures.

I love the star on my play mat.

Pierce is now ten weeks old.  He is such a big boy, and he is growing so fast.  This week, he started sleeping in his crib.  We have moved the bassinet out of our bedroom.  The transition went smooth.  He is sleeping about six hours a night.  We've had a few nights of eight hours of sleep.  He usually goes to bed around 8:00 or 9:00 p.m.  We feed him around 1:00 or 2:00 a.m., and he goes right back to sleep.  He is a very happy baby in the mornings.  During the day, he plays, eats, and sleeps a little bit.  The evenings bring a little bit of crankiness, but what do you expect from a two month old.  He is a pleasure, and we are enjoying parenthood.
